  • Why Go: Bring the whole family for a free day of activities, giveaways, and fitness activities. Plus White Plains Patch will be there, so come and say hi!

Spring Fashion Show and Luncheon to Benefit the WPHS Scholarship Fund

  • Why Go: Learn about the latest fashions, enjoy raffle prizes, cash bar and more while raising money for scholarships for White Plains High School students.
  • Price: $60 per person

Suzanne Vega & Duncan Sheik

  • When/Where: Friday, April 27, 8 p.m. at in Peekskill
  • Why Go: In the 80's Suzanne created an international sensation with her poetic stories and hit songs: Marlene on the Wall, Luka, and Tom's Diner, opening doors for Tracy Chapman, Sarah McLachlan and others. With seven studio albums, a Grammy Award, and three additional nominations to her credit, Suzanne's latest recording, Beauty & Crime is a love letter to her hometown of New York City.
  • Sheik makes his long awaited return to singing stand-alone pop songs, but he hasn't given up his recent habit of inhabiting characters. Duncan Sheik Covers 80s features twelve of his highly personalized takes on the synth-pop era, including smashes and obscurities from the likes of the Cure, New Order, Tears for Fears, the Smthe Thompson Twins, Love & Rockets, Howard Jones, Ja Nile.

  • Why Go: Enjoy some musical fun with Graham Clarke and his instrument friends, Delores, Cinnamon, and Bluebelle. The entertainment will be followed by make-your-own-sundaes. Either the child or grandparent should be a Yorktown or Cortlandt resident.

Rosenthal JCC Children`s Carnival

  • When/Where:  Sunday, Apr. 29, 11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. (rain date May 20) at the Rosenthal JCC in Pleasantville
  • Why Go:  Games, rides and refreshments for all ages, including zip line & suspension bridge, obstacle course, bounce ride, airbrush tattoos, face painting and more.
  • Price:  Rides/Games tickets sold at the door

Gluten Free Cooking Demonstration

  • When/Where: Saturday, April 28, 1:30-3:30 p.m. at in Yorktown.
  • Why Go:  Farmer Mike Edison of Hilltop Hanover Farm & leads a Gluten Free Cooking Demonstration at which participants will learn how to create family-friendly, gluten-free meals.
  • Price:  $20, online registration required. 

Orienteering Meet

  • When/Where: April 29, 10 a.m. at  in Mount Kisco
  • Why Go: Co-sponsored by Hudson Valley Orienteering, this is a day of fun, adventure, and exploration. Orienteering is a sport that uses map and compass to navigate your way as fast as you can through a woodland course of checkpoints. There will be three course levels from easy to challenging. If you are an orienteering beginner, there will be hands-on instruction given by West Point Cadets and Hudson Valley Orienteering experts. Event fee includes 3 maps for each of the 3 courses, waterproof map covers, instruction/training, and refreshments.
  • Price: Children under 10 attending the training should be accompanied by an adult. HVO and Member Adults: $15 person; Non-member Adults: $20 person; Students (20 yrs. old and under): $10 person; Member Families: $25; Non-member Families: $35. 

The 3rd Annual New York Super Adoption Event

  • When/Where:  Saturday, April 28 and Sunday April 29, 10 a.m-7 p.m. at the in White Plains
  • Why Go: Come see hundreds of cats/kittens, dogs/puppies and rabbits who are available for adoption at the Westchester County Center.
  • Price: Free

Walkathon & Pet Fair

  • When/Where: Saturday, April 28, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at  in Yorktown Heights
  • Why Go: The SPCA of Westchester presents a walkathon and pet fair where participants can collect pledges in advance and bring their dogs on the 2.5-mile walk while enjoying entertainment by Kacey of 100.7 WHUD, food and refreshments, games and crafts for the kids, and shopping in the vendor village. Walkers can register the day of the event and all proceeds support the rescue and rehabilitation of animals in need at the SPCA of Westchester.
  • Price:  Free

Rip Van Winkle - a Dramatic Retelling by Storyteller, Jonathan Kruk

  • When/Where:  April 28 and April 29 at 12:30pm at in Pocantico Hills
  • Why Go:  Listen to Washington Irving's classic story of Rip Van Winkle as performed by master storyteller Jonathan Kruk. Accompanied by mandolin and strumstick, Kruk will regale listeners with his colorful narration.
  • Price: Tickets $5-$16 - Performances are one hour and begin at 12:30 p.m. each day. There are four performances per day and tickets must be purchased in advance.

The Cast of Beatlemania

  • When/Where:  Saturday, April 28, 7:30 p.m. at the Mary Lou Meese Theater at in Bedford.
  • Why Go:  The Community Education Foundation & Friends of Music & the Arts are sponsoring a concert fundraiser in support of Bedford students and their schools. The renowned former Broadway cast members of Beatlemania will be performing their acclaimed show, The “Cast” of Beatlemania for a one-time performance, recreating the sights and sounds of The Beatles.
  • Price: $40, For ticket information visit www.foxlanebeatlemania.com . Tickets will also be available at the door on the day of the performance
