To date, Westchester has received 4,540 doses of the monkeypox vaccine. The vaccine is a two-dose series.
"That is a very important number as we try to get ahead of the transmission of the disease," Latimer said.
The county Department of Health is administering monkeypox vaccines — by appointment only — from noon to 3 p.m. Mondays and from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesdays at 134 Court St. in White Plains.

Latimer said that the Westchester Medical Center, which was giving out COVID-19 vaccines at the Westchester County Center, will be setting up a drive thru tent to give out the monkeypox vaccine at the facility in Valhalla. Call to schedule an appointment at 914-326-2060 beginning Tuesday .
"If you cannot come to downtown White Plains, the drive-thru option may be better," he said, adding that people in Putnam, Dutchess and Orange counties should also feel free to make appointments for the monkeypox vaccine at Westchester Medical Center.
