Westchester Offers Grants For Lead Paint Remediation

WHITE PLAINS, NY — If lead paint in your home is of concern, Westchester County is reminding residents that there are grants available to address and repair lead-based paint hazards.

In recognition of National Lead Poisoning Prevention Week, which runs through Oct. 28, the county Department of Planning has a $4.1 million grant program called Lead Safe Westchester.

The program offers grants to address and repair lead-based paint hazards, ensuring homes meet modern safety standards.

To qualify for these critical grants, households occupying the assisted units must have an annual income at or below 50 percent to 80 percent of the Area Median Income for Westchester County.

By targeting this income bracket, LSW extends a helping hand to those who may face financial barriers to addressing lead hazards in their homes.

Priority consideration will be given to households with young children under 6 years old and pregnant women, acknowledging the heightened risk of lead exposure for these individuals.
