Westchester Smart Commute Program To 'Stuff A Bus' To Fight Hunger

The county joined forces with Feeding Westchester and Stop and Shop to collect food donations.

WHITE PLAINS, NY — Westchester County’s Smart Commute Program has joined forces again with Feeding Westchester and Stop and Shop to help fight hunger by stuffing a Bee-Line bus.

The Bee-Line bus will be at the Yonkers Stop and Shop in the Cross County Shopping Center between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28 and Saturday, Oct. 29.

Donations will also be accepted at all Westchester Stop and Shop locations from Oct. 21 to Oct. 28.

All items should be non-perishable. No glass containers or pre-opened items should be donated.

According to organizers, some of the most-needed items are:

  • Stuffing
  • Cranberry sauce
  • Corn muffin mix
  • Boxed macaroni and cheese
  • Gravy (canned or mix)
  • Canned green beans (or mixed vegetables or corn)
  • Instant mashed potatoes
  • Canned sweet potatoes
  • Pie filling (apple or pumpkin or cake mix)
  • Juice (no glass bottles)
