White Plains Fall Sports Seeks Athletes, Coaches

White Plains Recreation & Parks Department Soccer and Basketball programs begin in mid-September.

In addition to homework, teachers and textbooks—back-to-school also brings the start of the fall season for White Plains Recreation & Parks Department sports.

The department’s soccer and basketball programs are looking for energetic and enthusiastic coaches to volunteer four hours a week for eight weeks. No experience is necessary and practice schedules are coordinated based on the availability of volunteers.

Registrations for the department’s fall soccer programs— Pre-Kicks, Little Kicks, Sunday Soccer or League play—is open to boys and girls in pre-kindergarten through sixth grade. The registrations deadline is Sept. 8 with programs started on Sept. 22.

White Plains’ programs aim to teach students the fundamentals of the sport, which developing skills and emphasizing teamwork and fun. All players are guaranteed playtime, will receive an award at the end of the year celebration and will participate in the inaugurals White Plains World Cup Tournament.
