White Plains H.S. Junior a Winner at Science Fair

David Lumelsky did a study on aircraft icing.

White Plains High School junior David Lumelsky placed third in the High School Engineering and Technology Division of the Tri-County Science Fair last weekend.

His study is titled, “Ice Release Coatings on Aircraft Frames to Prevent Icing during Flight into Known Icing Conditions.”

Several hundred students and parents attended the Fair, held at White Plains High School, which was open to all students in Westchester, Putnam and Rockland Counties in grades K-12.

Top winners in the Middle and High School Divisions go on to participate in the State Science Congress Competition of the Science teachers Association of New York State.

Lumelsky was one of nine White Plains Science Research students who represented the high school at the fair. Teacher Kimberly Fleming directs the Science Research Program.
