White Plains Hospital Named In U.S. New & World Report Ranking For These 4 Specialties And 13 Procedures

The Westchester hospital was also ranked by U.S. News & World Report as a Best Regional Hospital for the seventh consecutive year.

WHITE PLAINS, NY — White Plains Hospital has been recognized by U.S. News & World Report as a Best Regional Hospital for the seventh consecutive year.

The hospital earned the highest ranking among all hospitals in Westchester and the Hudson Valley, in the recently released report.

"Recognitions such as these serve to prove that we are succeeding in our mission to provide the highest-quality advanced care close to home for our community," White Plains Hospital Chief Medical Officer Michael Palumbo said. "Our designation as one of the Region's Best Hospitals is a wonderful reflection on one of our strongest assets: our remarkable staff."

For the first time this year, White Plains Hospital earned a national ranking in geriatrics, alongside pulmonology, which was nationally ranked again this year.

In all, the hospital was recognized as "High Performing" in four specialties: gastroenterology & GI surgery, neurology & neurosurgery, orthopedics and urology.

White Plains hospital was also ranked by U.S. News and World Report as "High Performing" in 13 procedures or conditions:

The U.S. News & World Report recognition comes on the heels of the hospital's long list of recent honors, including: an "A" Safety Grade from the Leapfrog Group for the 13th consecutive time; ranked as one of the nation's Best Hospitals and Best Maternity Hospitals by Money; named to the Best Workplaces in New York list by Fortune for the 3rd consecutive year, and awarded the comprehensive heart attack center (CHAC) certification from The Joint Commission and American Heart Association

The hospital is also fully accredited by the Joint Commission and in 2024, it received another 5-star rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) — the highest distinction offered by that federal agency for the third consecutive year. In addition, the hospital received its third Magnet designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), a distinction held by only two percent of hospitals in the country.
