White Plains Man Charged with Cocaine, Narcotics Possession

The 38-year-old city resident was arrested following an accident in Hastings.

A woman called Hastings Police at 11:48 a.m. Tuesday, June 11 and reported her car had been struck while it was parked on Warburton Avenue.

Police responded and found the driver of the vehicle that struck the woman's car was driving with a suspended driver's license.

Police proceeded to search White Plains' Devore R. Torain's vehicle and found items alleged to be controlled substances.

According to police, Torain, 38, had in his vehicle two clear plastic bags containing a substance believed to be cocaine.

He also had reportedly had a silver pill container containing seven white pills believed to be hydrocodone; as well as 10 beige pills believed to be oxycodone.

Torain was arrested and charged driving without a license, as well as three felony drug charges: two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree and one count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 5th Degree.

He was arraigned by Village Justice Joseph A. DiSalvo and released on $2,500 bail.
