White Plains Officials Approve Special Permit for Nursing Facility; Gaming Tournament at the Greenburgh Library and Open Orchestra Rehearsals

 The White Plains Common Council gave an extension to Health Care Properties for a special permit to build a skilled nursing facility on Church Street during Monday’s meeting. The extension will also allow Health Care properties to amend its original proposal from an 179 bed proposal to a 160 bed proposal. Check back for more on the story later today.

3.) Learn How to Make a Make a Video Game with Scratch at the White Plains Library

Children in grades three and highers are invited to attend the the White Plains Library’s workshop to learn how to use the program Scratch to make their own videogames during two sessions at  3 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. today. The program has limited spaces and tickets will be distributed 3o minutes before it starts. On Aug. 20, all the videos made during the Scratch workshops during the summer.

4.) Gaming Tournament at the Greenburgh Library

A free gaming tournament for teens will be held at 7 p.m. in the Greenburgh Public Library tonight. The event will be a fun evening with fellow gamers and will include pizza and prizes.

5.) Westchester Symphony Orchestra Hosts Open Auditions Today

 The New Westchester Symphony Orchestra is inviting local musicians to a complimentary rehearsal tonight at 7:30 p.m.,  inside the Music Conservatory of Westchester, located at 216 Central Ave. in  White Plains.
