White Plains Plans New Year's Eve Ball Drop, Fireworks

The event will feature a crowd countdown and ball drop, followed by a fireworks display and confetti, organizers said.

WHITE PLAINS, NY — Get ready to ring in the New Year in downtown White Plains.

The family friendly White Plains New Year’s Eve Spectacular returns for the first time in three years because of the pandemic.

Festivities will be at the intersection of Main and Court streets from 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 31 to 12:30 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 1.

Live entertainment will be provided by Just the Melody Band, which has an all-star cast featuring Grammy nominee Irene Blackman.

The event will feature a crowd countdown and ball drop, followed by a fireworks display and confetti, organizers said.

The celebration means a number of street closures will be necessary. The city will begin closing streets in the event area at noon Dec. 31. Streets will reopen to vehicular traffic around 3 a.m. Jan. 1.

White Plains New Year’s Eve Spectacular is made possible with support from the Westchester County IDA, White Plains BID and Bay Crane.
