White Plains Proposes School Budget Of $214,135, 854

The budget aims to improve athletics opportunities and technology instruction for students.

WHITE PLAINS, NY—Dr. Howard W. Smith, acting superintendent of White Plains City School District, will present a preliminary budget of $214,135, 854 to the district’s finance committee and Board of Education on March 20. The 2017-18 budget is a 2.58 percent increase from the previous school year. The allowable tax levy limit is 3.51 percent.

The budget aims to maintain current class size, improve athletics opportunities and technology instruction for students, maintain school buildings and improve campus security.

A budget forum/community response will take place on March 22 at the high school. Subsequent meetings will discuss different parts of the budget, with the vote scheduled for May 16.
