White Plains Public Library: Battle Of The Books Summer 2022

We are in the process of recruiting our library's teams for the Westchester Library System Battle of the Books Summer League! Battle of the Books is a book-based trivia tournament for Westchester youth entering grades 4-12 in September of 2022. The goal of the program is to promote a love of reading in kids and teens, to expose them to titles and authors that they might not encounter otherwise, to encourage them to think of their local public library as a resource for entertainment and to inspire teamwork and good sportsmanship in an atmosphere of friendly competition.

There are two age groups for the Battle of the Books competition. Matches for children entering grades 4-7 in fall 2022 will take place on Tuesdays at 5:00 p.m. from July 5 through August 16. Matches for teens entering grades 6-12 in fall 2022 will take place on Thursdays at 5:00 p.m. from July 7 through August 18.

The 4th-7th grade team will be reading:

• Curse of the Night Witch by Alex Aster (Library Catalog / Libby / hoopla)
• Fly on the Wall by Remy Lai (Library Catalog / Libby)
• From the Desk of Zoe Washington by Janae Marks (Library Catalog / Libby / hoopla)
• Katie the Catsitter by Colleen AF Venable (Library Catalog / Libby)
• Show Me a Sign by Ann Clare LeZotte (Library Catalog / Libby / hoopla)

The 6th-12th grade team will be reading:

• Raybearer by Jordan Ifueko (Library Catalog / Libby / hoopla)
• The Downstairs Girl by Stacey Lee (Library Catalog / Libby / hoopla)
• You Should See Me In a Crown by Leah Johnson (Library Catalog / Libby / hoopla)
• Wink by Rob Harrell (Library Catalog / Libby)
• Skyward by Brandon Sanderson (Library Catalog / Libby)

Caregivers with children entering 6th or 7th grade have the option to choose either the 4th-7th grade team or the 6th-12th grade team.
