White Plains Memorial Day Parade

• When/Where: Monday, May 28 at 10 a.m.;
• Why Go: Join various local organizations in a parade down Church Street to the White Plains Rural Cemetery on North Broadway for a Memorial Day ceremony.
• Price: Free

Rally for Accountability, Justice for Kenneth Chamberlain Sr.

• When/Where: Saturday, May 26 at noon; Thomas H. Slater Center, 2 Fisher Ct., White Plains
• Why Go: Join supporters of Kenneth Chamberlain Sr. in asking for a county-level independent review board to oversee all Westchester County police departments. Click for details.
• Price: Free

“Spring into Katonah: A Celebration of the Senses”

• When/Where: Thursday, May 24 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at in Somers.
• Why Go: The event features live music performed by Gerard Carelli, along with food and wine tastings from area restaurants and shops. Tour the Lasdon gardens and enjoy the botanical art show in the main house, in an event that celebrates Katonah. The Veterans Museum will also be open and the Lasdon Garden Shop will be offering plants and garden gifts for sale.
• Price: Tickets are $20 per person.

Dark Star Orchestra

• When/Where: Saturday, May 26, 8 p.m. at
• Why Go:  For all the Deadheads out there, check out this band that has been performing to critical acclaim worldwide for over 13 years and have done more than 1800 shows. Dark Star Orchestra continues the Grateful Dead concert experience. Their shows are built off the Dead's extensive catalog and the talent of these 7 fine musicians.

Musician Marc Black to Perform

• When/Where:  Saturday, May 26, 11 a.m. at the Children’s Room
• Why Go:  Come to hear local musician, Marc Black perform songs for the whole family to enjoy. A songwriter and musician, Marc combines humor with ideas of diversity, the environment, and love of animals in his CD American Children. Marc's songs deliver important messages while entertaining both children and adults.

Animals & Acrobats at Van Cortlandt Manor and “A Night on Fire”

• When/Where: Saturday, May 26 through Monday, May 28 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. “A Night on Fire” takes place on Saturday, May 26 at 8 p.m. (separate ticketed performance)
• Why Go: Van Cortlandt Manor is turned into a menagerie accompanied by magicians, musicians and other entertainers Modeled on an early-American traveling circus, Animals & Acrobats also includes jugglers, acrobats and animal conservation groups. An ambassador wolf, stilt-dancers, fire-jugglers, gargantuan puppets and the chance to become a circus star will be some of the other fun highlights.
• “A Night on Fire,” a one-evening-only performance is a fully choreographed, live display of fire arts featuring four flame-wielding, fire-eating performers twisting and turning, juggling and dancing, spinning and sword fighting. Produced and performed by the juggling and comedy troupe A Different Spin, “A Night on Fire” will feature spectacular stunts and family friendly humor.
• Price:  $16 adults, $12 ages 3-17, free for age 2 and under. Tickets for “A Night on Fire,” are $20 for adults and $15 for children 17 and under.

Glen Campbell’s Farewell Tour

• When/Where:  Friday, May 25, from 8-11 p.m. at in Peekskill
• Why Go: Country music singer Glen Campbell is an icon whose hits have crossed over to top the pop charts. His final album, "Ghost on the Canvas" traces the arc of Campbell's 75 years: From dirt-poor, tiny town Arkansas origins to Hollywood triumphs on the pop charts, TV and movies.

“Monet's Garden" Exhibit at The New York Botanical Garden

• When/Where: May 19 - October 21 at The New York Botanical Garden
• Why Go: This stunning tribute to French Impressionist Claude Monet showcases a seasonally changing interpretation of the garden that inspired his art. In addition, two rarely seen paintings by the artist—one of which has never been shown in the United States—will be on exhibition, and films, concerts, poetry readings, and hands-on art for kids will provide rich insight into the life and work of this renowned master.

Meet the Baby Animals

• When/Where: Sunday, May 27, 1-3 p.m. at in Somers
• Why Go:  Go meet the many new little faces on the farm.
• Price:  Free

Shakespeare's Twelfth Night

• When/Where: Thursday, Thursday, May 24 through June 10 at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m. at The Schoolhouse Theater in Croton Falls.
• Why Go: The Shakespearean comedy Twelfth Night tells the story of Viola, who impulsively chooses to dress like her twin brother to fend for herself while in a foreign land.  As she does this, she enters a situation as seemingly crazed as the moment when Alice stepped through the Looking Glass. Shakespeare’s adventure plays with oppositions, with exaggeration and delicacy and in the end exhorts us to seize the day and not live in an imagined romance. This is the first time a Shakespearean production has ever graced the Schoolhouse stage.  To celebrate the occasion, the Schoolhouse is bringing Penny Cherns, head of the classical acting department at the esteemed London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art to direct the beloved comedy.

Mohegan Lake Fire Annual Memorial Day Service

• When/Where: Monday, May 28, 10 a.m. at the Shrub Oak Honor Roll on East Main Street and Memorial Day Parade begins at 11 a.m. at Town Hall.

Somers Memorial Day Parade

• When/Where:  Monday, May 28, 10 a.m. beginning at Somers Middle School, anyone wishing to march should be at the school by 9:30 a.m.
• The Wilson Morasco Post 8213 VFW will be hosting the annual Memorial Day Parade that will conclude at Ivandell Cemetery. Ceremonies immediately following the parade will be held at the Veterans Memorial.

South Salem Memorial Day Races

• When/Where: Monday, May 28, 7 a.m. at 15 Main St, the Lawn. 
• There is a medley of races South Salem on Memorial Day. The 10K will start at 8 a.m.  The 5K will start at 9:30 a.m. The Challenge Run is a chance to run the 10K and the 5K.  Awards will be presented for the top three male and top three female winners of this race. The Mile Fun Run is offered for those youth not ready to attempt the 5K, and will start at 10:45 am. The 5K Health Walk begins at 9:45 a.m. More than 200 children, ages 2 to 8, will compete in the “PeeWee Races” at 11 a.m.
• Stay after the races for South Salem Presbyterian's Church 36th Annual Memorial Day Fair for food, live bands, shopping, games and inflatables for kids. This year, 10% of all registration fees will benefit the Forever Molly & Gregory Fund, which was established in partnership with the Katonah-Lewisboro Foundation in memory of Molly and Gregory Friedlander and their mother Amy.

Memorial Day Commemoration in Mount Vernon

• When/Where: Monday, May 28, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. at St. Paul's Church N.H.S., 897 S. Columbus Ave., Mt. Vernon. Soldiers’ Stories & Songs: The site is open for walking tours recalling the lives and stories of soldiers interred in the historic cemetery. There will also be talks, music, and living history demonstrations.
