White Plains Youth Bureau Announces Pat Lanza Scholarship Recipients

The following is a press release from the City of White Plains

The today announced that The Pat Lanza Family Foundation awarded $50,000 in scholarship money to ten White Plains Youth Bureau participants.

The Foundation’s President, Pat Lanza, cited the Youth Bureau’s successful efforts to provide support for young people in the City who wish to pursue a college education.

The money was awarded to ten graduating seniors. The 2012 scholarship winners are:

The scholarship winners, who will all be attending college in the fall, were awarded this scholarship because of their leadership within our community as well as their commitment to community service.   

In order to earn this scholarship, all ten recipients went through an application process which included essay questions, a letter of recommendation, and a college acceptance letter. Once the essays were reviewed, the applicants were required to come in for an interview, and the students with the top scores for the essay and interview combined were chosen for the scholarship.

The students received their scholarships on the thirteenth of June 2012 at a ceremony in the .
