Woman Dies After Plunge From Rooftop Patio

Police say they are investigating the incident as a suicide.

A 54-year-old woman's deadly leap from a rooftop cafe in White Plains is being investigated as a suicide, police say.

Katherine Guarnieri, of Mt. Vernon, died Thursday after she jumped from a rooftop cafe at Nordstroms in White Plains, police say. Several witnesses told police they saw Guarneri jump from the patio at about 3 p.m. and land on the sidewalk on Bloomingdale Road near Westchester Ave., said White Plains Police Lt. Eric Fisher.

Fisher said the woman fell about 90 to 100 feet.

This is the second believed suicide in the area in less than six weeks. A man after plummeting from the top of an 11-story parking garage on Hale Ave.
