Community Rallies To Save Beloved Dog-Friendly Cafe In Brooklyn
Boris & Horton, a popular dog-friendly café at 510 Driggs Avenue, has started an online fundraiser to avoid shutting down next week.
BROOKLYN, NY — It might not be over for Boris & Horton.
When news surfaced that Boris & Horton, a beloved dog cafe in Williamsburg, could soon close, shocked members of the neighborhood stepped out on social media, offering any help to keep the business afloat.
On Friday, the Boris & Horton team announced that they're now trying to raise $250,000 online at the Boris & Horton website to save their two locations, one in the East Village and the other in Williamsburg.

As of Friday evening, the fundraising had raised more than $85,000, thanks entirely to the support of loyal customers and business supporters.
"Boris & Horton is set to close its doors on Monday, February 26th unless we can raise the funds to make the necessary changes required to keep the business going. If you care about keeping Boris & Horton open, now's the time to help. We need to raise $250,000 from donations and subscription boxes below," the campaign description reads.

Ownership advised last week that they had decided to close owing to several concerns, including the escalating costs of running a small business in New York and the specifics of running a dog-friendly cafe.
The proceeds from the campaign, which can be accessed here, will be used to make a number of repairs to their East Village store, hire new employees and keep current employees paid while the location is closed for repairs.
“Even if this fundraiser doesn’t work,” owner Logan Mikhly shared with The Post, “it’s just truly heartening to see how people have rallied around us.”
Boris & Horton originally launched on Avenue A in the East Village back in 2018. The innovative location provided off-leash exercise and socialization for neighborhood dogs, as well as coffee, snacks and Wi-Fi for their owners.
Last summer, the concept moved to 510 Driggs Avenue, in Williamsburg, with a large dog-friendly area for daytime play dates and popular nighttime activities such as dog-friendly comedy, drag, music and art nights.
