VIDEO: Williamsburg Woman Killed In Drunk-Driving Crash While Celebrating Her 21st Birthday

An NYPD officer was driving drunk when he lost control of his car on the Williamsburg bridge, killing 21-year-old Amanda Miner, police said.

WILLIAMSBURG, BROOKLYN — A woman who was out for the night celebrating her 21st birthday was killed when an NYPD employee driving drunk crashed the car in which she was riding into the side of the Williamsburg bridge early Thursday morning, police said.

Police responded to the accident at around 3:15 a.m. on Thursday, they said. Authorities' initial investigation suggests that Stefan Hoyte, a 26-year-old NYPD traffic enforcement agent, was driving a car across the bridge from the Manhattan side before he lost control and struck a median in the roadway and then a support pillar, police said. Williamsburg woman Amanda Miner, 21, was seated in the back seat of the car and was "ejected" from the vehicle upon impact, police said in a statement. Emergency responders pronounced Miner dead at the scene of the crash.

Hoyte and the passenger in the front seat were both taken to Bellevue Hospital to be treated for minor injuries. Police said they were listed in stable condition.
