📰 News we're reading

• 'It feels good': Cold Buffalo winters spark big-hearted mission from local knitters (wkbw.com) — Residents at Amberleigh Senior Living Community in Williamsville are quietly knitting thousands of hats, bonnets, and blankets to keep local infants and toddlers warm through Buffalo’s harsh winters. The volunteer group, Bonnets for Babies, finds purpose and friendship while donating nearly 4,000 handmade items a year. Community members can even support their mission by sending yarn and supplies through an Amazon Wish List.

• 'A long process': Orchard Park girl battles severe Lyme disease symptoms after years of misdiagnosis (wkbw.com) — A 12-year-old Orchard Park girl battling severe Lyme disease is now seeking help from a functional medicine doctor in Williamsville after years of misdiagnosis and worsening symptoms. Her family faces long waits, out-of-pocket costs, and a difficult treatment road, but community donations are helping them push forward. Local advocates stress early tick testing and year-round prevention for Western New Yorkers.

• Margery Louise Vossler, 87, formerly of Wellsville (hornellsun.com) — Williamsville readers may remember Margery Louise Vossler as a 1956 Williamsville High School (now Williamsville South) graduate who later built a long career in banking and deep church and civic involvement. She passed away at 87 in Pennsylvania, with calling hours and a memorial service planned in Wellsville later this month for family and friends to pay their respects.
