ICYMI: New Burger Joint Coming To South Slope

An awning for "212 Burgers" popped up recently near the intersection of 16th Street and Prospect Park West.

SOUTH SLOPE, BROOKLYN — It looks like a new burger joint is going to open in South Slope, near the intersection of 16th Street and Prospect Park West.

A black awning bearing the name "212 Burgers" has popped up outside of 212 Prospect Park West (on top of a door that faces 16th Street). It's the same place where Shawarma Mediterranean Grill used to serve its takeout and delivery food.

For a few weeks, the storefront remained boarded up, and we spotted construction crews outside every so often. Recently, though, the boards have come down, but the establishment isn't open yet.

We called the number on the awning and got a message that said: "Thank you for calling 212 burgers. We are working very hard to serve soon." There was no chance to leave a voicemail.

We peeked through the window to see what was going on, and it doesn't look like the space will be much more than a kitchen and counter.

If you have any more information on 212 Burgers, we'd love to hear from you.

(And we'd be remiss if we didn't note that the store sits right across the street from Double Windsor, where we think the best burgers in Brooklyn are served.)
