Police Blotter: Recent Robberies in Windsor Terrace

The following information comes from police reports from the 72nd Precinct of the NYPD. It does not indicate a conviction.

Bike Stolen from Backyard

A Windsor Terrace man's bicycle was stolen from his backyard on June 28.

The 41-year-old victim told police that his black aluminum Cannondale mountain bike, estimated at around $800, was snatched from his Vanderbilt Street home despite being locked in his own yard.

Debit Card Debacle

A Windsor Terrace man walked into the precinct station house on July 1 and told police that, after losing his debit card, someone had deposited fraudulent money orders into his bank account before withdrawing $1,200. The perp went on to purchase a $700 money order with the card.

No arrests have been made.

Missing Water Quality Meter

A water quality meter—estimated at around $4,000—was stolen from the back of a Windsor Terrace man's work pick-up truck on June 28.

The 28-year-old victim told cops that the meter was resting in the back of the black Chevy Silverado—parked on Prospect Park West near 18th Street—when he left the vehicle around 7 p.m. on Thursday evening. On his way to get coffee at 6 a.m. on Friday, the victim saw that the pricey piece of equipment had been lifted.

Police are reviewing nearby video surveillance, but no arrests have been made.

Car Caper

A 70-year-old man's car was thoroughly picked over by criminals on June 28.

The victim, who lives in Greenpoint, had parked his 2010 Honda Accord on Reeve Place near Prospect Park Southwest, and returned to find several items missing, including a Toshiba computer, a pair of Prada sunglasses, a brown leather jacket, a Yankee baseball cap and several dollars in quarters. The victim told police the losses total around $1,800.

There was no sign of forced entry.
