Take A Running History Tour Of Prospect Park

Here's how you can learn about the history of Brooklyn's backyard while getting some exercise.

PROSPECT PARK, BROOKLYN — Brooklyn joggers have a chance this weekend to take a historic tour of Prospect Park while getting some exercise this weekend.

The New York Road Runners are hosting a "Prospect Park Running History Tour" on Saturday, July 22.

The jog starts at Grand Army Plaza and finishes at Bartel-Pritchard Square. In between there, jogging coaches will lead you "past several historical spots throughout Prospect Park, including the Dongan Oak Marker and Harry's Wall," an event page says.

"Experience the park’s deep history at a comfortable (~10:00 min/mile) pace that’ll allow for plenty of photo opps and questions along the 2.5-mile route," the page says.

And, in case you were still leery about not being able to keep up, the group notes "This is not a training run; we will be making frequent stops along the tour."
