Windsor Terrace Block Could be the Greenest of Them All
A Prospect Park Southwest block has made the cut in the Brooklyn Botanic Garden's annual competition.

Could Windsor Terrace be home to the greenest block in Brooklyn?
The Brooklyn Botanic Garden has unveiled its list of semifinalists for its annual "Greenest Block in Brooklyn" competition, and one of Windsor Terrace's own lush islands of green space has made the cut.
The Ad Hoc Gardening Committee of Prospect Park Southwest, bounded by Prospect Park Southwest between 11th Avenue and 16th Street, was one of the 41 blocks from around the borough to be selected as a residential semifinalist.

Newkirk Plaza, located between Newkirk and Foster avenues, was also selected as one of the eight commercial semifinalists.
In 2010, Kensington scored an honorable mention for the the stretch of East 4th Street between Caton Street and Albemarle Road.

The contest aims to promote streetscape gardening, tree stewardship and community development.
In addition to the Greenest Block award—$300 for first prize—contestants will also have the opportunity to take home green (or gardening tools) for having the best window box, greenest storefront, best street tree beds and best community garden streetscape.
Winners will be announced in August.
