2 Peekskill Teens Accused Of Spray Painting Public Property

Police said they received calls from passing motorists about the vandalism.

YORKTOWN, NY — Two 14-year-olds were accused of spray painting graffiti on public property.

The Yorktown Police Department said teenagers from Peekskill — one boy and one girl — were arrested and charged Monday with two counts of juvenile delinquency. The underlying charges for both of them, if they had been charged as adults, were making graffiti and possession of graffiti instruments, misdemeanors.

Police said officers were sent Monday to Route 6 in the area of Mill Street for a report from several passing motorists of two young people spray painting graffiti on the sound barrier wall just east of the intersection.

When the officers got to the scene, they found the two 14-year-olds in the area.

Police said the teens both spray painted several graffiti “tags” on the sound barrier and had multiple cans of spray paint in their possession.

The teens were arrested and taken to the Yorktown Police Headquarters. Their guardians were contacted and told to come to police headquarters as well.

Appearance tickets were issued to both teens, and they were released on their own recognizance to their guardians.

They are both scheduled to appear in Westchester County Department of Probation Dec. 14.
