Bronx Man Drives Drunk On Christmas Eve: Police

The man had a blood alcohol content of more than 0.18 percent, police said.

YORKTOWN, NY — A Bronx resident was accused of drunken driving in Yorktown in the early morning hours of Christmas Eve.

The Yorktown Police Department said Michael V. Rivera, 58, of the Bronx, was arrested Sunday and charged with driving while intoxicated, first offense, and aggravated driving while intoxicated per se with no prior convictions, misdemeanors, and moved from lane unsafely, a traffic infraction.

Around 12:45 a.m. Sunday, police said officers responded to a report of a vehicle being driven on its rim on Old Yorktown Road.

Police found the car going south on Old Yorktown Road at the Taconic State Parkway overpass, moving from the lane unsafely.

The car was stopped by police, and Rivera was identified as the driver.

It was determined he was intoxicated, police said.

Rivera was placed under arrest and taken to the Yorktown Police Headquarters for processing.

He had a blood alcohol content of more than 0.18 percent, police said.

Rivera was issued uniform traffic tickets for the charges and released on his own recognizance to a responsible party.

He is due to appear in the Yorktown Justice Court Jan. 4.
