New Rochelle Man Accused Of Driving While Using Drugs

Police were initially sent to investigate a motor vehicle accident.

YORKTOWN, NY — A New Rochelle man was accused of driving while on drugs.

The Yorktown Police Department said Andrew W. Gillies, 43, of New Rochelle, was arrested Friday and charged with driving while impaired by drugs, first offense, a misdemeanor.

Police said, around 10:40 p.m. Friday, an officer was sent to Route 100 and Boone Road for a motor vehicle accident.

After an investigation at the scene, police said Gillies was driving while impaired by drugs.

He was arrested and taken to the Westchester Medical Center.

After being discharged, Gillies was taken to the Yorktown Police Department for processing.

He was issued uniform traffic tickets for the charge and released on his own recognizance to a responsible third party.

Gillies is due to appear in Yorktown Justice Court Jan. 2.
