Peekskill Man Drives Drunk On Shoulder Of Road: Police

Police also said the man did not have a license to drive.

YORKTOWN, NY — A Peekskill man was accused of drunken driving after being stopped for driving on shoulder.

The Yorktown Police Department said, around 9:30 p.m. Thursday, an officer on routine patrol on Route 6 when he saw a car being driven on the shoulder.

A traffic stop was conducted and Nery Orlando Sagastume, 37, of Peekskill, was identified as the driver.

The investigation found he was unlicensed and driving while he was intoxicated by alcohol.

Sagastume was arrested and taken to the Yorktown Police Department for processing.

At the department, he was found to have a blood alcohol content of 0.08 percent or more.

Sagastume was charged with driving while intoxicated, first offense, and driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol of 0.08 percent or more, misdemeanors. and driving on shoulder and unlicensed operator, traffic infractions.

After processing, he was issued traffic tickets for the charges and released on his own recognizance to a responsible adult.

Sagastume is due to appear in the Yorktown Justice Court Jan 25.
