Yorktown Changes Garbage Pickup For MLK Jr. Holiday

YORKTOWN, NY — With the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday on Monday, Yorktown has altered its garbage collection schedule for the week.

For kitchen refuse:

• Monday collections will picked up Tuesday, Jan. 16.
• Tuesday collections will be picked up Wednesday, Jan. 17.
• All other collections will remain the same.

Dual-stream recycling:

• Monday collections will be picked up Tuesday, Jan. 16.
• Tuesday collections will be picked up Wednesday, Jan. 17.
• All other collections will remain the same.

Christmas trees are still being collected.

Weather permitting, collections will take place on the following dates:

• Sections 1 & 7: Jan. 16
• Section 6: Jan. 17
• Sections 2 & 3: Jan. 18
• Sections 4 & 5: Jan. 11, 19

For condo and apartment collection:

All ornaments, lights and metal must be removed. Do not place trees in plastic bags. Artificial trees must be put out with bulk trash.
