3 Deputies Shot, Standoff With Suspect Ongoing In North Carolina

Two of the deputies were airlifted while a third was brought to a nearby hospital, police said.

DUDLEY, NC — Three Wayne County deputies were shot Monday at a home in Dudley, according to police.

The deputies were serving involuntary commitment paperwork when they were shot at 10:30 a.m. in the 2500 block of Arrington Bridge Road, police said. A standoff with the suspect was still ongoing six hours after it began Monday, according to WRAL.

Two of the deputies were airlifted to ECU Health Medical Center in Vidant and one was being treated at Wayne UNC Health Care, police said.
