Good News: Working-Mom Receives $1K Tip At NC Waffle House
A waitress pulling a double shift at a Greensboro Waffle House said a famous country music star left her a $1,000 tip recently.
GREENSBORO, NC — A North Carolina mom working a double shift at a Greensboro Waffle House got the tip of a lifetime recently, thanks to a country music singer who stopped in to pick up a takeout order.
Shirell "Honey" Lackey said she was working a 7 a.m. - 9 p.m. shift at the restaurant while also juggling caring for her baby daughter when the musician tipped her $1,000 and complimented her work ethic.
“He was like, ‘I have to respect a mother that would do whatever it takes to support their child in a society where people don’t even want to work anymore,'” Lackey told WKRN.

Lackey, who said she wanted to keep the musician's identity anonymous, said he also gave her two concert tickets and later sent toys and baby clothes to her home.
“It feels good to be recognized," she told the station. "I mean, I don’t do it to be recognized, I do it because Bella is everything, but it’s nice to be recognized for doing the things we do as mothers."
