Obituary: Emelia Ann "Emily" Esposito (Porto Funeral Homes)

Porto Funeral Homes

Emelia Ann "Emily" Esposito, 79, of New Haven, CT passed away on December 19, 2025 at Yale New Haven Hospital St. Raphael Campus. Sister of Pasquale (Christine) Esposito of Monroe, NC. Aunt of Estee M. Esposito and her husband, Thomas M. Springer, and their son, Gabriel, of Chantilly, VA and nephew, P. Anthony Esposito, and his son, Gianni, of Mills River, NC. She is also fondly remembered by her cousins and their children and especially by her 103 year old aunt, Jeanette DeRosa Esposito. Emily was born on Warren St. in New Haven on September 23, 1946 daughter of the late Louis and Filomena “Fannie" Ardigliano Esposito. There she grew up in the Wooster St. neighborhood attending Dante School and Columbus School during her elementary school years. She also attended Fair Haven Junior High and later went on to graduate from Wilbur Cross High School in 1964. After graduating, Emily always had intentions of being a registered nurse attending to the sick and infirmed. However as her life changed, she became an insurance agent working for different insurance agencies and spent most of her employment years (19 years) as an insurance employee in the New Business Department for the Knights of Columbus Headquarters in New Haven. Emily was a loyal friend and loving person. Like her mother, Emily enjoyed cooking, baking and sewing. She was a fantastic baker (like her aunts) and a very talented seamstress. For years, she has always enjoyed designing and making much of her own clothes.
Her funeral procession will leave the PORTO FUNERAL HOME, 234 Foxon Rd. (Rte. 80), East Haven, CT TUESDAY morning, January 6, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Elizabeth of the Trinity Parish in St. Therese Church (North Haven) at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Family and friends may call TUESDAY morning from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Sign Emily's guest book online at www.portofuneralhomes.net.
