• Historic home catches fire in Carteret County (witn.com) — A major fire heavily damaged Beaufort’s historic Duncan House Monday morning, but no injuries were reported. Firefighters from across Carteret County battled both flames and dangerous ice in the bitter cold. The 1815 home, packed with artifacts and stories from Beaufort’s maritime past, is now secured while investigators work to determine what sparked the blaze.
