• Man sentenced to 5-11 years for felony sex offense involving a minor: DA (wlos.com) — Black Mountain residents should know that a 29-year-old man has been sentenced to 5–11 years in state prison and must register as a lifetime sex offender after a Black Mountain Police Department investigation into a felony sex offense involving a minor. The Buncombe County District Attorney’s Office says officers responded to a local residence, where evidence led to his guilty plea to second-degree forcible sexual offense.
   

• Appalachian Disaster Coalition builds new homes for Helene victims (wlos.com) — A western North Carolina nonprofit is building homes for people displaced by Helene, including a couple from Black Mountain and a woman in Green Mountain who lost her house to a falling tree. Leaders say more than 100 families are still living in donated campers and stress that long-term rebuilding help and community support remain urgently needed.
