• New rain garden installed at Daniel Boone Native Gardens (wataugademocrat.com) — Daniel Boone Native Gardens in Boone has replaced a failing concrete pond with a new rain garden designed to handle storm runoff and support native wildlife. Funded by the N.C. Native Plant Society and built with help from App State students and local experts, the garden will bloom from spring through fall and serve as a hands-on educational feature for visitors.
