• ABSS releases next school year calendar (thetimesnews.com) — Families in Burlington and across the Alamance-Burlington School System can now plan ahead, as the 2026–27 school calendar is set with classes running from August 24 to June 4. Teacher workdays will shift to only Mondays and Fridays, a change drawing mixed reactions from parents but intended to cluster days off around weekends.

• House fire reported on Maple Avenue; $23,000 estimated in damages, Burlington firefighters say (wxii12.com) — Burlington firefighters quickly knocked down a house fire Wednesday morning on the 2900 block of Maple Avenue, limiting damage to an estimated $23,000 and sparing two cats inside. No one was home and no injuries were reported as Burlington fire, police, and Alamance County EMS responded within minutes and contained the blaze to the home’s exterior deck.
