• MCEDP awarded $25K to support small businesses (sandhillssentinel.com) — Small businesses in Carthage could soon tap into new funding, as Moore County Economic Development Partnership received a $25,000 Duke Energy Foundation grant to launch the Moore County Small Business Impact Grant Program. Beginning February 1, 2026, local retailers, restaurants, and service businesses—especially in Carthage and other priority towns—can apply for $500–$5,000 microgrants for storefront upgrades, equipment, and technology improvements. 
• SCC holds Workforce Continuing Education commencement ceremony (sandhillssentinel.com) — Sandhills Community College recently celebrated 430 Workforce Continuing Education graduates, including many who will serve Moore County in healthcare, trades, and public safety. The ceremony highlighted the Corbin Rogers Leadership Award, honoring a Carthage firefighter who trained through SCC and served with the Carthage Fire Department, underscoring the college’s close ties to local first responders and employers.
