Wake County schools propose changes to enrollment caps as overcrowding persists (cbs17.com) — If you live in Cary, be aware that Wake County schools are proposing new enrollment caps as overcrowding remains a major issue in Cary, Apex, and Holly Springs. Eighteen schools, including Northwoods, Weatherstone, Mills Park, and Panther Creek, could stay capped or be added, affecting whether new families can attend their closest neighborhood school starting July 1.

3. Virtual learning coming to one Wake high school after concerns from town, fire marshal (wral.com) — Families connected to Crossroads FLEX High School near the Wake schools’ Cary headquarters will see all classes move online starting Jan. 5 because fire-safety rules limit the current site to 49 students. District leaders, after months of talks with the Town of Cary and the fire marshal, plan a temporary move to Garner next fall while parents worry about another midyear shift to virtual learning.
