2012 Cumberland County Teacher of the Year Finalized Tuesday

Ten teachers in the Cumberland County Schools (CCS) are anxiously awaiting the announcement of the 2012-2013 CCS’ Teacher of the Year.

A banquet honoring them as well as all schools’ Teacher of the Year (TOY) representatives will take place on Tuesday, September 4 at 6:30 p.m. in the Crown Center Ballroom. Organizers say the TOY announcement will be made at approximately 7:30 p.m.

2012 top 10 finalists:
Cape Fear District – Clara L. Bolton from Stedman Primary
E.E. Smith District – Dia Collins from Reid Ross Classical Middle/High
Jack Britt District – Lori Evans from New Century International Elementary
Seventy-First District – Angela Parker from Seventy-First Classical Middle
Westover District – Mia Johnson from Cliffdale Elementary
Douglas Byrd District – Susan Nazario from Sherwood Park Elementary
Gray’s Creek District – Paige McMillan from Gray’s Creek Elementary
Pine Forest District – Elizabeth Bunce from Howard Hall Elementary
South View District – Melanie Garrett from Ed V. Baldwin Elementary
Terry Sanford District – Robert Hight from Terry Sanford High

The county-wide winner will go on to compete for the regional title.
