82nd CAB Helicopters Arrive by Ship into Port of Wilmington

Apaches, Chinooks and Blackhawks, oh my!

Within recent months the personnel of the 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade got a red carpet welcome home at Pope Field's Green Ramp. But what about the helicopters?

According to a news release from the brigade, the helicopters arrived from Afghanistan by ship last week and will be reassembled and flown back to Fort Bragg from the Port of Wilmington.

The command team, Col. T.J. Jamison and Command Sgt. Maj. Larry Farmer reported in an August news conference that the unit flew more than any unit in history: 170,000 hours. They have 2,700 soldiers assigned to them from Fort Bragg, and 1,200 from other units.
