82nd Sustainment Brigade to Support Disaster Relief

60 soldiers from Fort Bragg join the NORTHCOM Response Force.

 

FORT BRAGG, N.C. – The 82nd Sustainment Brigade deploys approximately 60 Soldiers to Fort Dix, N.J. on Monday in support of a disaster relief mission.

The deployment is expected to be up to 30 days. The Sustainment Team will determine the range of sustainment capabilities including mission command, logistics management, distribution and personnel accountability in order to support NORTHCOM’s Response Force to Superstorm Sandy victims.

“We are deploying ‘short-notice’ to support the disaster relief efforts up north,” said brigade commander Col. Chris Sharpsten. “I expect our team will provide outstanding mission command to the task force and will generate workable solutions that will enable first responders to accomplish their objectives during this crisis.”
