UPDATE: Cumberland County Sheriffs Investigate Child's Death

As of Tuesday evening, the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office reported that the State Medical Examiner Office was not prepared to make a decision on the cause of death at this time.  The reasons for death remain unknown.

On Monday, November 5, 2012 at around 5:30 p.m. First Responders were dispatched to a home at 4618 Elcone Drive, Fayetteville. The child, a 4-year old female, was found unresponsive and was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center via ambulance.

The child's body was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center and will be transported to the State Medical Examiner's Office in Chapel Hill on Tuesday for autopsy.

The cause of death is unknown at this time.
