Suspect Robs Woman of Social Security Earnings

An investigation continues as Cumberland County Sheriff’s Detectives are searching for a suspect who robbed a 71-year-old Spring Lake woman Tuesday night.

Heidi Wolfe of the 100 block of Spring Avenue Extension says she was asleep on the couch when she awoke to a man with his hand over her mouth and a knife to her throat. Wolfe says the suspect told her to be quiet and give him money and he would not harm her according to Debbie Tanna, Public Information Officer.

The suspect made away with a bank envelope containing $700 in cash - Wolfe’s entire social security check earnings for the month.

The suspect fled on foot, walking down a dirt road toward Spring Avenue.
