Saturday morning the community gathered for a history lesson at Cross Creek Cemetery Number One, located on North Cool Spring Street.
The official War of 1812 bronze markers were unveiled at the graves of four veterans buried in the cemetery while Mayor Tony Chavonne read a proclamation designating Sept. 22nd, 2012 to honor the following veterans:
Brig.Gen. Thomas Davis, Lieutenant John Eccles, Sergeant John Huske II and Militiaman John Powers.

These veterans were recognized for their service during the War of 1812.
The Army Ground Forces Band played traditional era selections during the ceremony.

Following the ceremony, tours, reenactors and displays were set up at the Transportation and Local History Museum on Franklin Street.
