Fayetteville Regional Chamber CEO Responds to Troop Reductions

STATEMENT ON FORT BRAGG BRIGADE COMBAT TEAM REDUCTION FROM FAYETTEVILLE REGIONAL CHAMBER PRESIDENT & CEO DOUG PETERS

The United States Army has issued plans for a massive restructuring of forces today. In those plans, Fort Bragg is slated to lose the 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team of the 82nd Airborne Division by 2017.

"Today's announcement that is being widely reported is consistent with what we have believed to be the case for some time now," said Fayetteville Regional Chamber President and CEO Doug Peters. "Our concern is the long-term impact of deeper cuts and the potential for these announced cuts to not be ultimately offset by Special Forces troop gains.

"The Chamber will remain vigilant and proactive in communicating the value of the Army's current troop strength presence on our regional economy.".
