Fayettville Man Charged with Sex Crimes Against a Child

Cumberland County Sheriff’s Detectives have charged a Fayetteville man with sex crimes against an 11-year old child.

20-year-old Leonardo Emmanuel Leon Galvez of 2622 Cabana Drive was taken into custody late yesterday afternoon in connection to inappropriate activity in June. He is charged with 2 counts of statutory rape, 2 counts of statutory sex offense, 4 counts of sexual activity by substitute parent and one count of indecent liberties.

According to Debbie Tanna, spokesman for Cumberland County Sheriff's Office, he is being held in the Cumberland County Detention Center under a $300,000 bond.

Investigators say Galvez engaged in inappropriate behavior with his victim at the home belonging to the girls' relative between June 16, 2012 and July 5, 2012.

He is expected to make a first court appearance today at 2:30 p.m. in the Detention Center courtroom.
