School accepting donations to purchase a memorial paver stone

The John R. Griffin Middle School community has rallied around one of their military families to raise funds for a memorial paver stone at the Airborne & Special Operations Museum.
One of the school's sixth grade students lost her father on Nov. 15, 2012 in the tragic Veterans Day parade accident in Midland, TX.
Principal Mike Mangum expressed his sentiments for the family, but was excited to see the outpouring of support from the faculty, student, families and unit members.

"We've had several families and others from the community come in to drop off donations," Mangum said. "All funds raised beyong the paver will be donated to the Wounded Warrior Fund. The kids are also selling candy at school."
The students' team and teachers came up with the idea of the paver to pay tribute to the student and her family.
