Operation R&R Partners with Groupon for Military Families

Operation R&R Charleston and Groupon Grassroots, the philanthropic arm of Groupon, announce the launch of a local campaign to allow Carolinians the opportunity to help fund a much-needed vacation for our troops whom have recently returned home from a deployment.

The “Vacations for Vets” campaign will be available on the Charleston, SC and Raleigh, NC Groupon Grassroots page beginning on Monday, August 20^th and running through Sunday, August 26^th. Utilizing Groupon Grassroots’ collective action model, Groupon subscribers can pledge support for the Operation R&R Charleston’s initiative in increments of $10 with each $400 providing one military member and his/her family a virtually free vacation on the Charleston beaches.

Though military deployment presents a range of stresses for families, returning home can be equally difficult as family members struggle to get reacquainted with one another. Vacations can give spouses and children the time they need to reconnect after a veteran returns home, helping to prevent familial strife. 

“We’re excited to leverage the collective action model of Groupon Grassroots to raise support for Operation R&R Charleston,” said Nikki Weeks, Executive Director. “We look forward to creating new awareness for Operation R&R Charleston one of the local organizations in Charleston to be featured on Groupon Grassroots.”

One hundred percent of the Groupon Grassroots campaign proceeds will be used to provide virtually free beach vacations for our active-duty military.
