Pat McCrory, Third Republican in 100 Years to Win North Carolina Governor's Race

According to unofficial results, with 32% of precincts reporting, he was far ahead of Dalton.

The former mayor of Charlotte ends the 20 year Democratic streak in the Governor's Office late Tuesday evening.

Republican Pat McCrory led in early returns with 53.6 percent, to 44.4 percent for Democrat Walter Dalton.

McCrory becomes the third Republican to win election as North Carolina's governor in a hundred years.
