Man accused of driving 13 miles with missing tires after hit-and-run on US 70 in North Carolina (myfox8.com) — Police say a driver from Garner hit an SUV on US 70 near Jessup Drive Sunday morning, injuring the other motorist and closing a lane. The man then allegedly drove nearly 13 miles toward Clayton on two missing tires before officers finally stopped him and took him to a hospital for a medical issue.

Sensory gym opens to students at Wake County elementary school (cbs17.com) — Students at Swift Creek Elementary in Garner now have access to a new “Focus Factory” sensory gym designed to help them regulate emotions and get ready to learn each morning. About 18 children use specialized equipment like mini-trampolines and balance beams twice a week, and early feedback from teachers suggests the program is already improving behavior and classroom readiness.

Garner woman out thousands after buying stolen vehicle from CarMax in multi-state fraud case (wral.com) — A Garner woman is out thousands of dollars after learning the luxury car she bought from CarMax was actually stolen years ago and carried a fraudulent VIN. Raleigh police and Florida’s Polk County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a large multi-state theft ring tied to up to 200 allegedly stolen vehicles, including the one sold locally.

Virtual learning coming to one Wake high school after concerns from town, fire marshal (wral.com) — Crossroads FLEX High School students will shift to fully virtual learning starting Jan. 5 because fire marshal rules limit their current Cary building to 49 people. The Wake County school system plans to move the program next fall to the Garner Resource Education Center as a temporary home, and leaders say they’re working on ways to keep the school community together.
