1. 1 taken to hospital after shooting at Greensboro McDonald's on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, police say; no one in custody (myfox8.com) — Police say one person was hospitalized after a shooting Monday at the McDonald’s on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in Greensboro, and no suspect is in custody yet. Officers processed the scene for hours, but investigators have not released a motive or suspect details, even as the restaurant quickly reopened and regular customers returned.
   

2. Greensboro church reopens after car crashes into sanctuary wall, celebrates 150 years (abc45.com) — Collins Grove United Methodist Church in Greensboro is worshipping at home again after a July car crash tore through its sanctuary wall and forced months of repairs. The congregation used the restoration to upgrade the space and unveiled the renewed sanctuary during its 150th anniversary celebration, which drew recognition from the mayor and other local leaders. Weekly Sunday services have resumed on Collins Grove Road, and visitors are welcome.
   

3. County Seeks Your Feedback On Trash And Recycling (rhinotimes.com) — Guilford County is asking Greensboro residents and businesses to weigh in on how trash, recycling, and yard waste are handled through an online survey open until Jan. 16. Your feedback will help shape a new countywide Solid Waste Management Plan, influencing future collection programs, infrastructure investments, and recycling initiatives that affect daily life in Greensboro.

Man killed in crash on I-785 in Greensboro, police say (wfmynews2.com) — A Greensboro man was killed late Saturday night in a crash on I-785 South near Clapp Farms Road, and another Greensboro driver is charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle and failure to reduce speed. Police say impairment and excessive speed don’t appear to be factors as their Crash Reconstruction Unit continues investigating.
   

5. The Pyrle gives new life to historic Greensboro theater (myfox8.com) — A team of Greensboro investors is transforming the former Triad Stage downtown into The Pyrle, a larger 850-capacity concert venue they hope to open by early March. They’ve gutted the old theater, built a new stage, and plan a cocktail bar open most days to draw people to South Elm Street. Artists for 2026 shows are set to be announced January 7.
