Former Huntersville Mayor To Run Against Madison Cawthorn in NC13

John Aneralla became mayor of Huntersville in 2015 and decided not to run for re-election this term.

HUNTERSVILLE, NC โ€” Former Huntersville Mayor John Aneralla announced he will seek higher office Monday.

Aneralla served as Huntersville's mayor since 2015 and will run for Congress after opting not to seek re-election.

Aneralla will make the announcement at 2 p.m. Monday in Huntersville, he confirmed to Patch. The state Board of Elections was originally set to start accepting filings and fees Monday at noon statewide. That was halted about 15 minutes prior.

He will face Madison Cawthorn who switched districts, Karen Bentley and Tyler Lee in the primary election.
